The menu is small, with about one to four drinks option per categories (Coffee, Non-Coffee, Bites, Signatures, Pourovers, Tea). Even though there is not as many option like chained coffee shops, the menu have a great balance between staples and signature.
A small menu is great for those who are indecisive and make the decision process way easier. In addition, focusing on quality rather than quantity is also a good thing.
We ordered two of their signatures – strawberry matcha and hot cookie butter latte. At first sight, the two drinks look very small. I absolutely enjoy my strawberry matcha. The taste of matcha is strong yet creamy, and it goes so well with the sourness of the strawberry. I don’t like chunks in the strawberry jam and this one had great consistency – thick but not too thick. As of the hot cookie butter latte, we were not a fan. It was good, but it does have a taste of cinnamon. I am not the biggest fan of cinnamon in drinks so I don’t really enjoy this one, but those who are cinnamon enthusiasts might enjoy this.
All drinks are made-to-order, especially the matcha. The shop doesn’t pre-whisk their matcha, which is a good sign because matcha is best drink fresh. Since the store is quite small, there will be a line if you come on weekends and rush hours. Therefore, plan accordingly and don’t come here expecting to have your drink ready in 1 minute.
The store is located near the Commercial Broadway area. If you lived somewhere further than Vancouver, it might take a bit of travel especially if you’re using transit. I love the vibes and atmosphere of this cafe, but I wish it was bigger. There are only 4 tables with 2-3 seats each so seats are very limited. I would say it is good for a quick coffee meet-up with a fried, but definitely not for going in groups or with family.
Overall, I love this place. I love the cozy and chill ambience of it. You can tell by taste of the drink that the baristas really take time in making your order, and I appreciate that. Furthermore, the prices are included with tips and the employees are paid a living wage for their job so I would continue to support this ethical business in the future.
